Book Review

How many out there like a good historical work of fiction work surrounding Louisiana, circa 1950-early 60's?
Mary Keith has written a novel that will have you cringing as you are plunged into the underworld of the KKK. The main character, Louis Abellard is born into the lap of luxury. He spends the majority of his time and money:drinking, cavorting and gambling. When he tires of those activities, he wants more. Enter the secrete organization swirling around Belleville, LA—The Ku Klux Klan.

After World War Two, this heinous organization began a lighting resurgence in the South. This is where the book takes off. If you have a weak stomach, this read is not for you. The graphic details of the clan activities is absolutely brutal and graphic. When I hit the halfway point of the story I contacted Mary for some clarifications. There was no way this story was a novel. She assured me, many of the details came straight from a former Clansmen. You can feel the reality of the events seeping through the pages.

If you're looking for an historically accurate novel, you won't be disappointed.
