I'm sick of the media. What about you?

I am sick of all the media/political rhetoric concerning the COVID numbers! Absolutely sick. I don’t give a damn if you’re Fauci, Abbott, Biden, Trump or any of the anchors spouting off. They all have an agenda and that’s why I’ve been tracking the numbers since WE 4-19-2020. But before I get into that, what has happened to the phrase, “super spreader event?” Since Biden was elected the only time it was used, as most times, was when Trump supporters congregated or the Superbowl was held in a “red state.” Don’t hear any mention of it in Portland, where they’re still rioting do you? Nope. In fact, you seldom even hear about Portland today or any other disturbances, do you? And what about what’s going on at our Southern border? Biden says we must wear masks, but he’s letting in infected persons ignoring all the protocols set up for US citizens? How does that work and why isn’t the media clamoring this will create a “super spreader event?” Nay, we’ll ignore that while in the same breath calling those who are lifting mask mandates as Neanderthal? Come on, man!

Okay, back to COVID numbers. Remember when the media claimed the following events would explode the numbers: Spring break, 2020, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and of course Christmas. Who can forget all the coverage of the pool party in Hot Springs, Arkansas and how the sky would be falling rapidly?  All of these were going to bring the country to its knees, or so the media said. The top four weeks of massive increases were: We 1-10-2021 1.7 million, We 12-20-2020 1.6 million, WE 1-17-2021 1.571 million and We 12-13-2020 1.532 million. Restrictions were still in place. Social distancing and mask mandates were in place. Then why in the hell are the highest weeks of infection occurring at the end of the year and the beginning of the new?

When the virus erupted a year ago, the top weeks of mortality to cases were We 4-26, 5-7, 6-28, 7-5,7-12, 7-19. 20% of the mortalities occurred in the first eight weeks. Back then, everyone had an opinion and wanted to be first with the quote, “breaking news.” It was breaking alright. No, it was broken. They had no facts, just useless opinions and they’re still no closer today than they were a year ago in understanding how to stop its spread. They espouse that they do, but let’s be honest, they don’t. Lock downs didn’t stop it. Masks haven’t stopped it. Hopefully, the vaccines developed will. The good news is, since WE 1-24-2021, there has been a precipitous drop in new cases reported; down 74%. Why? Another question none of the quote, “experts” can explain. But they’re writing books about it: Andrew Cuomo and Dr. Siegel. How can one write a book about a virus that hasn’t yet finished running its course?  Yeah, still trying to digest that one.

Remember Shelly Luther, the hair-dresser in Dallas that wanted to open her business but Judge Jenkins took it as a personal insult that this brazen woman would stand up to his draconian measures? She took every precaution to makes sure her employees could earn a living and her customers were kept safe. That wasn’t good enough for Jenkins. Many argued that Luther didn’t need the money, which is true, but her employees did. The irony of the situation was, as Jenkins tried to make an example of her, fans across the country set-up a GO FUND me for her which raised over one million dollars! So why did she take such drastic action? Because this is America and she was exercising her rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Hope those words sound familiar.

Do we know how much longer the virus will be around? Well, if we go back and look at the Spanish Influenza of 1918-1919, it should be around for at least another six months, world- wide. That would be good news but only time will tell how this plays out.
