Closing the Border

Closing the Border

A year ago, all the rage was shutting down state borders. Remember that? My son in law worked in Louisiana on a rig and roadblocks were set-up on I-20 checking people coming in and out of Texas for COVID. Cuomo was pontificating at the top of his lungs he was threatening to shut down the borders of New York to anyone from another state wanting to visit. Yeah, the media was doing their job of scaring the hell out of everyone. Remember the big water party in Arkansas, think it was Eureka Springs, where the media was absolutely disgusted with this brazen disregard for public safety and how selfish those individuals were? They were going to create s “Super Spreader Event.” They said the same thing when Trump had a July 4th celebration at Mount Rushmore. In fact, any gathering of more than six people would be classified as a “Super Spreader Even,” especially if they occurred in a Red State. Remember the 2021 Superbowl in Tampa?

Where are we today? That term, has, for the most part, been eliminated from the vocabulary of the MSM. Rather than shame us for trying to move on with our lives they are now singling out those who have not been vaccinated. They are the enemy. They aren’t worried about others. They are being selfish and could care nothing about their fellow man or woman’s health and well-being.

Remember when Governor Stitt, of Oklahoma said we are open, come see us. Good Lord, the liberal’s brains were exploding at a meteoric pace!

Yet, today, all those proclamations and gnashing of teeth have become silent when it comes to our Southern border. Why? Why is it okay to accept more mask mandates and potential shut downs when our border is nothing but a sieve? Why has the term “Super Spreader” taken a back seat? Why is the MSM ignoring the potential threat from illegals but hammering those who haven’t been vaccinated? Do you see the blatant hypocrisy in this?

Eighty years ago, out country was thrust into World War Two when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Four days later, Hitler would declare war on the United States. FDR treated the enemies different. The FBI kept a close tab on the German/Italian communities that had held rallies in support of those regimes while the Japanese community was placed in internment camps, not concentration camps. Big difference. Why were the Japanese treated different? Demographically, they had a huge presence in Hawaii and the West Coast. Looking back we can see what an injustice it was as many of those interned were loyal to the Stars and Stripes and not the Rising Sun, but remember, it was a Japanese Dentist who was sending pictures of Pearl back to Japan for the impending attack. FDR could not take a chance at the West Coast being invaded, for our military was hardly ready for a war and most or our fleet was burning. He had to secure the border and he did.

Today, for those who have seen the original movie, “Red Dawn,” we are faced with a similar situation. We are fighting two wars, the pandemic and terrorism and neither one is being addressed. We have no idea how many of the illegals are carrying the virus and we sure don’t know how many are coming over to disrupt our infrastructure or worse. We don’t know those answers, do we?

The only way to meet these challenges is for the country to come together. Joe Biden said he would do that and has failed. The MSM has done nothing but fan the flames of discourse and keep driving a wedge between left and right. Why? What is their end game?

The only way we, as United States citizens are going to win these battles is for “US” to unite. For “US” to hold our elected representatives accountable and adhere to the Constitution and for “US” to stop supporting and regurgitating what the MSM says is the truth. In the end, only they will continue to benefit from our folly while they bask away in their ivory towers, guzzling on champagne and gorging themselves with caviar.
